Video capsule endoscopy
Video capsule endoscopy is an examination that allows your small intestine to be seen.
Before the examination
Avoid taking iron supplements, if applicable.
Intestinal preparation
For the examination, the intestine must be properly cleansed. It is important to follow the instructions for the intestinal preparation that your nurse gives you.
To bring with you on the day of your examination
- Your health insurance card.
- Your hospital card (if you do not have one, we will make one for you).
How the examination is performed
We will fit you with a belt linked to a recorder that you'll carry with you in a shoulder bag. You must wear it at all times during the data recording period (approximately eight (8) hours).
We recommend that you stay within 30 minutes of the hospital during the data recording period so that you can quickly return to the endoscopy department if you experience any side effects or adverse reactions.
You will return to the hospital the same day or the day after to return the belt, recorder and shoulder bag. The nurse will tell you when you must return these items.
